Week 4 - Continuation of Torso build

Image
The Model with less Subdivisions This week i continued with my model build, adding more subdivisions and edge loops to stylise my body into the character im creating. I constantly keep trying to keep all my work in quads, especially at this early stage of development. I added edge loops and subdivided my model to give more form to my model, that included puffing up the chest, opening up the legs and giving the illusion of the hips and muscles in extremities (calves and shoulder muscles) Once i was happy with how the body was beginning to look i cut the body in half, and used the tool duplicate special to mirror the other side of the body, by doing this the body became symmetrical and also everything i did on one side of the body was then repeated on the other side of the body making my life a lot easier when building the body.  Once i had Duplicate Specialised my model i continued to subdividing until i was happy with how it looked Once the body was modelle...

Week 3, T Pose and Beginning Modelling

Image
Mostly happy with my designs, i chose the more casual of the outfits for the character, as the greater range of textures would look more interesting in a final model. Once i was happy with any final tweaks i made to the design i created a T-Pose. However, i made a mistake and had the T pose back to front to the conventional way, i realised a few weeks into my model build, but had commited to making the model by this point, i will have to rotate the model when complete, and wont require much effort. This week i also began my model build, to begin with, i was rusty with my Maya skills, so i did a practice piece of a model based upon the Pokemon Porygon. Once i was back in touch with my Maya skill set i began modelling my model, on the first day i spent approx. 10 hours building the basics of the body, the initial shape of the torso and legs came together very quick. One thing i had a problem with, was that my model looked different when switching from my Windows PC to the M...

Week 2: HUman Design Character Concept

Image
To begin i began at looking at different body proportions, i ended up wanting to go for slightly more realistic proportions. I then went and did some pose practice with the Proportions i chose to get comfortable with the anatomy, i then went on to do some character design, i have two designs that i designed further, a stealth looking suit, and more casual looking clothes. I think i prefer the casual clothing as the design while is less complex, will deal more with creases and textures on the clothing, something that i feel will create a much nicer looking finished product. I am happier with this concept, and feel more motivated with it (Probably apparent with the large amount of designs in a short period of time. it will also help me design more human eyes and ears.)

Alternate Design: Moodboard

Image
I began with another Mood-board, this time i went for a Human character, as i feel that i am more comfortable designing humans, and also i can make a more elaborate design, and focus more on hands, and facial features, I wanted to go for a futuristic/agent aesthetic, although i also researched casual clothing, as i thought it would be interesting to combine these two opposites, as it would give a good combinations of textures.I also found some T-poses and reference sheets of characters that i drew inspiration from.

Week 2: Development of Designs

Image
After receiving feedback from the class i narrowed down what my characters inspirations came from, i chose red pandas and Koalas, I added to the designs i came up with last week and came to more of a final design. I also added some basic colours to get an idea of what the fur could look like. However after working on this concept for just over a week i wasnt really feeling happy with the way i was progressing and was feeling demotivated about my design, while i am happy with how the design looks, i doubt that the design is complex enough to show off what i have learnt/what i will have learnt during this module, and i feel that i would lose interest in this design pretty fast. I decided to create a completely new concept starting from scratch.
